WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki in recent times has become more accepted in main stream society however, many people remain unaware of reiki and its benefits.

What is Reiki? (pronounced Ray-key)

Developed by Dr Usui, reiki is a Japanese holistic therapy providing benefits such as stress reduction, pain relief, relaxation and/or developing a greater understanding of self for personal awareness and growth.

Research supports that unseen energy flows through and connects all living things. This energy has various names depending upon culture, the most commonly known being Ki (Japanese) and Chi or Qi (Chinese) or Prana (Indian). Reiki works through the human energy field known as the chakra system. The seven major chakras (ancient Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel of light’), are aligned along the spine, from its base to the crown and each chakra interacts primarily with the endocrine system, distributing energy through the nerve pathways and circulatory system. This is where and why illness and pain are often generated. If the chakras are left unbalanced blockages occur throughout this system, affecting the organs and glands the chakras are connected to.

Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field, raising the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
